The micropigmentation of the eyebrows, what is it?

Eyebrow micropigmentation is a semi-permanent make-up technique. The professional injects, using a needle, into the upper layer of the epidermis, coloring pigments close to the natural color of the hair. Several colors of pigments are generally used to bring shade to the eyebrow. This makes it possible to densify the eyebrows , fill them and create the illusion of a perfect line by creating hair, where there is none or more. The goal: to have symmetrical eyebrows , zero defect without needing to make up.

What happens during a session ?

Before practicing micropigmentation , the professional restructures the eyebrows by redrawing with pencil, the line most adapted to our face. He tries to enlarge the look . After this step, the client validates her new line of eyebrows. The trained professional then goes on to micropigmentation: he injects the small pigments of color, point by point with a needle, following the new line.

The session lasts about 30 minutes and is not really painful since unlike a tattoo, the needle does not go deep. Once the micropigmentation is finished, the eyebrows look dark but it fades after a few days. Depending on the type of skin, 20-80% of the color may evaporate within 5 days. Hence the need to do a retouching session 3 weeks later.

Desquamations (due to the layer of skin that is reformed) can sometimes appear in the days after the session. A layer of moisturizing cream (Cicalfate type at Avene) is passed on morning and evening. On the day of micropigmentation, one does not wet his eyebrows and for a whole week, no bath, sauna, hammam or jacuzzi. And obviously, no sun exposure either.

Questions to Ask Before You Get Started

The choice to try micropigmentation , like any other semi-permanent make-up technique, is done lightly.
- Is that really for me? The micropigmentation of the eyebrows is mainly aimed at those who do not have more or very little. It can also be a good compromise for those who have thick but scattered eyebrows.
- How long does it last ? Theoretically, the traces of a micropigmentation are still visible two years later but it has already faded well after 6 months. Everything depends on how it has been maintained, and every six months, for example, is a welcome addition to make the effect last even longer.
- Can we continue to epilate his eyebrows? Yes. But we leave this task to an esthetician who will take care to depilate our eyebrows with tweezers and not with wax.
- How much does it cost ? A first micropigmentation costs on average 250 €. This price includes the retouching 3 weeks later but it is then necessary to add the half-yearly maintenance (75 € to 100 € on average).
