Even before applying its foundation, it is necessary to prepare its skin well.
To do this, perform a scrub at least once a week to remove dead skin cells and smooth the skin. This allows a more even application of the foundation and a better hold. It is essential to clean your face thoroughly by removing make-up thoroughly in the evening and starting again in the morning.
We do not forget to properly moisturize the skin with a suitable day cream and apply a make-up base, to promote a long-lasting hold of the liquid foundation.
The Right Tools for Applying a Liquid Makeup
To apply a liquid foundation, several tools can be envisaged.
If you have sensitive skin, you prefer finger application, softer and faster (provided you have the right gesture).
The brush is favored by the professionals because it is more precise and allows better dosing of the product. However, it requires a little dexterity.
As for the sponge, if it is soft enough to apply, it often leads to a fatal error: too much foundation! As it allows to put product in large quantity, one tends to be carried away and one finds oneself with a mask and demarcations.
Another negative point of the sponge: it is really less hygienic. Of course, if the brush is chosen, care must be taken to clean it thoroughly with warm water and gentle shampoo after each use.
We can also opt for more "modern" tools such as Beauty Blender and Silidrop (silicone).
How to apply your liquid foundation to the finger?
Take a little product (add it afterwards if necessary) and warm it inside the hands.
With the pulp of the fingers, place foundation in the center of the face and stretch it towards the outside of the face. Make small circular movements and insist on the wings of the nose, wrinkles and fine lines, the part between the eyebrows or the fold of the chin.
On the harder parts, tap the product slightly with your fingertips. Make sure to put less of the product at the base of the hair, eyebrows and ears and blur the foundation by stretching it towards the neck. Do not iron too many times in the same place to keep the hand light.
What about the application of the foundation with a brush?
The simplest is to bring a flat brush, which will go more easily in the more delicate areas of the face.
Place a little foundation on the back of the hand and remove the product with the brush. A way to avoid putting too much on the brush for a more uniform and light application.
Apply the product by making ample and continuous movements to avoid demarcations. After application, clean the brush.
Applying liquid foundation to the sponge
Prefer a sponge with the rounded edge that makes it possible to go to place the product in the more difficult places of access, like the wings of the nose or the eyebrows.
Proceed in the same way as with the brush: place a little product on the back of the hand and take it with the end of the sponge. Apply the foundation starting from the center of the face and stretching outwards. We go from the nose, the wings of the nose and the chin to the cheekbones and the sides of the face.
Thoroughly clean the sponge after use. A dirty sponge will work less well during subsequent use.
How to get a perfect complexion?
Despite all our efforts, we have probably missed a little lightness in applying the foundation. Do not panic, the tissue technique removes excess product.
The right gesture: fold a tissue in half and wrap it around the fingers. Then press the handkerchief over your face, rolling your fingers lightly. Do not rub, otherwise the product can be removed. This way, the areas such as the corners of the nose, the corners of the lips or the roots of the hair, where too much of the product is deposited, can be blurred. Using a cotton swab, remove excess foundation from the eyebrows and brush them. Finally, to ensure a good hold of the foundation, apply a powder to matifier before going to the blush (which will come to recreate a little relief). A fixer may also be applied in the form of a spray (a fogger may also be substituted).
