We will not lie: running outdoors is not always a pleasure (especially when the weather conditions are against us). The parade ? The treadmill! A timeless device that will never go out of style, thanks to it the Sunday joggers can make their cardio session warm, whether at home or in their gym.

The little story of the treadmill

Treadmills were invented around 1875, for agricultural uses. They helped the horses to operate the mechanical threshing machines. Later, in the 1950s, Dr. Robert Bruce invented the medical treadmill to evaluate cardiopulmonary diseases. But it was only in the 1960s that we really began to see the carpet as a help in maintaining our physical shape.

How it works ?

The mechanism could not be simpler: the surface on which we walk unfolds under our feet to force us to hold a certain pace. One can accelerate or slow down according to the chosen program, but also tilt it to reproduce the effort produced in a climb.

At each rhythm: thanks to him, you can practice walking, brisk walking and running.

What is working?

In addition to its proven benefits in improving our cardio, the treadmill, like outdoor running, allows to refine the entire silhouette. The thighs and glutes are remodeled, the posture is improved and the abdominal belt is reinforced.

The adventurous will be bored quickly, and will probably prefer to go to the outdoors ... But on the side result, the treadmill is just as effective. If it is included in a fitness program adapted and accompanied by a balanced diet, no doubt it will be very effective in the medium and long term.

Be careful, however, those of us who never play sports should not go beyond their limits, at least in the beginning. Indeed, you must be a savvy runner not to put his joints at risk every time the foot hits the ground. Repetitive shocks impose significant trauma to our knees, hips and spine.

The ideal is to seek advice from a sports coach, who can establish with us a sports program according to our level, our needs and objectives.

At your carpets, run!
