They are not made to last: the semi-permanent hair colorings are the perfect compromise for all those who wish to dye their hair temporarily .

No need to dye your hair to hide an original color, it will leave by itself over the shampoos - between 6 to 8 shampoos on average for the most temporary, and 6 to 8 weeks for others, longer duration .

Semi-permanent coloring: what results to expect?

"Semi-permanent stains can be used by anyone, but they do not have the same hiding power as permanent stains, they will only cover 70% of the white hair, so transparency will be visible on the roots", explains Loïc Masurel, hairdresser ambassador Revlon Professional.

"They can come to revive its natural color , bring shine or change the reflection of hair," he says.

If in recent times the color chart of this type of product has expanded - we can now find more daring colors such as red, blue, pink or purple at Colorista, the new range launched by L'Oreal Paris in March 2017 - it is better to have light hair to make the most of it, the latter not lightening the natural base of the hair.

Also, it is impossible for the brunettes to go from their natural color to a Californian blond with a semi-permanent coloring. The result to expect in this configuration? Simple reflections, visible in the sun.

Temporary coloring: a boon for all hair types

Before you start, you should know that semi-permanent coloring is possible on all types of hair (smooth, wavy, curly or frizzy) and also on all color bases (dark to light), but also on hair permed, already colored or discolored.

If you want to prolong or revive the glow of a permanent color without damaging your hair, you can turn to a semi-permanent color, to apply on the length for a natural result.

"The semi-permanent color will not charcoal the color, and guarantees the brilliance of the hair," says Loïc Masurel.

How to maintain its ephemeral coloration?

If it is less strong than a permanent color, semi-permanent coloring still requires special care and maintenance.

"The ideal is to use a shampoo without sulfate that will wash the scalp and hair gently, without a too detergent effect.I also advise using a repigmenting care," advocates Loïc Masurel.

A hair routine that can include a conditioner and, once a week, a hair mask to leave for at least 15 minutes to nourish the hair deep and ensure its shine.
