The 2nd edition of the Race of Lights will take place Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Paris. The Institut Curie, the first French center for cancer research, has been organizing a Walk of Lights since 2013, which invites the public to walk in solidarity with people affected by cancer. Since 2016, the concept has evolved: you can participate in either a race or a night walk . Ready to put on your sneakers?

How to participate ?

As in previous seasons, everyone can participate and become, for a night, "light carrier" . The latter, as their name suggests, carry light balloons before releasing them into the sky. And it's a sign that they have been active in raising funds. To be one of them, you must reap 200 € from his entourage via an online donation platform, especially active for the event. To validate your registration, we go to the dedicated website (www.coursedeslumieres.com) and we choose the type of registration:

  • The solidarity inscription :
    • to participate in the 4 km walk: 30 € including 15 € donated to Institut Curie
    • for the 10 km race timed: from 40 € including 20 € donated to the Institut Curie
  • The ambassador registration which includes a collection of online donations of € 200 before November 22, 2017.
    • for walking 4 km: 15 km
    • for the race 10 km timed: 20 €

Good to know: for each registration, the part donated is a donation to the Institut Curie and gives the right to a tax receipt (deduction of 66% on income tax).

How's it going ?

The kick-off of the event will take place at 5pm, at which time participants will be welcomed to collect their signs and numbers on the Village. The start of the race will be given at 18:30, and that of the march at 19:15 for a return of all participants at 20:15 to the village. And to close the event, an award ceremony will be organized to nominate the race champion. The event will end at 20:45.

To participate (without wearing his sneakers) one can also make a gift to light carrier via the dedicated platform . We go on the platform (www.alvarum.com/event/1929) we choose a collector and make a donation online. In a few clicks, it's done!

In 2016, more than 2,000 runners and walkers mobilized to raise € 125,000 for cancer research. In 2017, the goal is to raise € 150,000 in donations to support the research and development of innovative treatments to fight against cancer, the leading cause of death in France.
