Peonies, lilies, roses: flowers, there are many, and in addition to feeling good, they are good for our interior. The only problem is that they tend to fade too quickly. To make them last a long time, follow these tips!

I choose a suitable vase

Each bouquet has its vase! The container must support the flowers, without choking them: the vase must therefore reach at least half the length of the stems and be a little flared if the bouquet is round. No need to detach the rods connected by the florist, it is useless!

It's clean

For the bouquet to rot, the stems are riddled with their small leaves and the vase is cleaned every 2-3 days, at the same time as the water is changed. This technique is more effective than the aspirin patch or the mini-drop of bleach, yet widespread but can damage the flowers.

Good water

The herbaceous stems (tulips, anemones, buttercups, hyacinths) wilt while gorging themselves with water: so they are only immersed in 3-4 cm of fresh water. Woody stems (lilacs, magnolias, mimosas), on the contrary, must be immersed half-way up in warm water. The only exception is roses, which prefer cold water. So that the flowers drink well, the stems of 0.5 cm are cut regularly with a sharp knife or pruner (no kitchen scissors, it crushes them).

Sugar to feed the flowers?

Why not put some in the water to feed the flowers. But it will then change the water more often because it accelerates the proliferation of bacteria. One can also opt for the sachet of nutrient solution of the florist which contains an antibacterial agent. The alternative? We inquire with his florist, who will always be good advice.
