The movement given to the branches is quite close to the art of calligraphy . To make the trunk wavy, the nurseryman digs a trench around his tree and rocks it slightly crooked, successively 2 or 3 times, at 3 or 5 years apart, in one direction, then in the other. The finishing consists of pruning the young branches in horizontal plateaus, in rounded clouds, in rolling hills ... These forms evoke the landscapes of the Far East.
