Originating in tropical Africa, castor oil comes from the plant of the same name, the castor. If the seed of the castor is not consumed, the vegetable oil that is extracted from it is not toxic and has many beneficial virtues for our skin, our hair - and our scalp -, our eyelashes, our nails . Preference is given to castor oil which has been obtained during a first cold pressing and which has therefore retained its therapeutic properties.

Castor oil to nourish the skin

Very rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, castor oil moisturizes and nourishes the skin deeply by plumping the dermis gently: ideal for dry skin, it is also suitable for problem skin (herpes, burns , stretch marks, acne, eczema ...).

There is no hesitation in applying castor oil to wrinkles - in small quantities, since it is very viscous, and in too great a quantity it can clog the pores - to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

The beauty trick: a drop of castor oil is mixed under each eye to reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Castor oil to fortify nails and hair

Rich in fatty acids, castor oil nourishes the scalp but not only. It makes the hair, eyelashes and eyebrows shiny, more supple, denser and accelerates the growth and repels it. It applies as a hair mask two to three times a week for one month.

After half an hour of laying under a warm towel, you massage your scalp to stimulate the growth of hair, and you get a good shampoo. At the end of the first month of treatment, the first results will be felt: castor oil will have strengthened the hydrolipidic film that protects the hair fiber.

It is important, however, to have a month of rest every two months: this avoids the scalp becoming too accustomed to this fat intake.

Castor oil is also very popular for strengthening nails. We do not hesitate to massage the nails with a few drops of this natural elixir once or twice a week.

Castor oil for small everyday problems

Known for its healing properties, castor oil can be applied on a cloth and placed on the stomach to relieve stomach aches. The ideal is to add a source of heat, using a hot water bottle for example. It can also be used at the joints to relieve the pain of arthritis and arthritis.

Applied locally, it even helps to soothe certain pains such as insect bites, and helps to treat eczema and desquamations.

Be careful not to consume it orally - or only under the advice of a doctor - because castor oil is very famous for its laxative effects.
