To have a flat stomach, nothing beats a healthy and balanced diet and a little sport to gain. Still, the following 10 foods are real help to prepare our belly for this summer.

  • The green vegetables

First type of food recommended: green vegetables! They allow our digestive system to work well. "By contrast, avoid starchy vegetables, such as potatoes and parsnips, and opt for broccoli, green beans or kale, to consume without moderation," says NutriCentre nutritionist Lorna Driver-Davies.

  • The whole bread

Foods that increase blood sugar levels, which cause the secretion of adrenaline and cortisol stored around the belly, must be avoided at all costs. So we give up white bread to prefer the whole bread.

"We will always favor alternatives to grain breads that release energy much more slowly," says nutritionist Dr.Marilyn Glenville.

  • "Good fats"

Some oils are good for your health and even help you have a flat stomach. This is the case of those that contain omega 3 like olive oil or walnut oil. "These vegetable oils also help reduce bloating," adds Lorna Driver-Davies.

  • Fish

Fish contains proteins that turn food into the stomach. Once you add a protein (animal or plant) to a carbohydrate, it turns into a slow carbohydrate, which keeps your sugar levels stable, "says Dr. Marilyn Glenville.

  • Cinnamon

Cinnamon is well known to nutritionists for its digestive benefits. It is added to certain drinks at least once a day to treat its digestive flora.

  • Eggs

"Research has shown that leucine, one of the essential amino acids found in eggs, can help you lose weight by stabilizing blood sugar levels and encouraging the body to reject fat," says Dr. Marilyn Glenville.

  • Celery

"Celery helps to flatten your belly because it is an excellent diuretic because of its high potassium content. Another positive point: it limits water retention, "says Lorna Driver-Davies.

  • Nuts

"Adding nuts to your diet can help you maintain your ideal weight over time because they contain" good "fats," says Dr. Marilyn Glenville.

  • Probiotics

"Eating foods rich in probiotics is essential to help flatten your stomach by keeping your levels of good bacteria that fight bloating. Do not be fooled by yogurts and other fermented foods such as sauerkraut or miso, "says Lorna Driver-Davies.

  • The herbs

"Some herbs, like peppermint or ginger, can really help the digestive system. It's important because if your body does not digest food properly, it's directly on your stomach, "says Lorna Driver-Davies.
